Research Ethics
Research Ethics committee Responsibilities:
To ensure that all research projects done in CHUB are reviewed and are ethically acceptable according to national and international standards.
To act in the full interest of potential research participants and concerned communities, taking into account the interests and needs of researchers and having due regard for the requirements of relevant regulatory authorities and applicable laws.
Maintain confidentiality of documents and deliberations of the Committee meetings.
To provide the letter for ethical approval to research projects that meet ethical requirements.
To ensure regular evaluation of the ethics of ongoing studies that have received a positive decision.

Application requirements
Application letter addressed to the Director General*: mandatory for all
Full proposal not more than 10 pages with questionnaire, budget and consent form included*: mandatory for all
Curriculum Vitae for investigators*: mandatory for all
IRB approval from high learning institution*: mandatory only for academic research
IRB from RNEC*: mandatory only for randomized clinical trial and other multicenter prospective studies.
Approval from Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority*: mandatory only for clinical trials
Proof for Ethical approval payment* mandatory for all except undergraduate students
